Overview

This course, presented by Paul Snyder, MA, LADC-S, CPC-I and Denis G. Patterson, DO, consists of seven webinars with didactic presentations and case presentations on topics related to safe opioid prescribing, including new treatment modalities, as well as how to document per Nevada law. The webinars are not on this website; instead, links are provided to the UNR School of Medicine in order to provide you with CME.

Learning Objectives

Following participation in this course, participants should be able to:

  • Explore our history with opioids and AB474
  • Examine the neurobiology of addiction
  • Discuss treatment options including Medication-Assisted Treatment
  • Discuss the pain pathway
  • Recognize and recommend non-opioid alternatives to treat chronic pain
  • Utilize opioid risk assessments and know when to choose a patient vs physician-driven assessment
  • Evaluate and treat pain in the acute care setting
